Read Me!!!

This site offers a space for publishing literature that I feel should be made available on the web. Maybe no commercial publisher is interested, or maybe the author doesn't want to bother. There is a lot of good stuff out there that should be made available, even in this obscure corner of cyberspace. Any comments, complaints, or submissions can be sent here.

Here is what we have so far:

• The complete text of a book by Vicki Oppenheimer, called The Taste Makers: How New World Foods came to Old World Kitchens. You can read it on the web or download the full text!
• The Journal of Simple Systems.
• Some rambling ideas of Bill Silvert.
• A Russian poem called Приглашение, meaning Invitation.
• The infamous and anonymous purple paper.
• A fantastic story about how the Russian Czar sent my family for an ocean cruise on the Staten Island Ferry.
• A lot of jokes and puns circulate on the internet, this one is especially good.
• A rapidly growing collection of essays by Stuart Beaton, a Nova Scotia fisherman.
• Terrorism the Middle East and You - by the late Joe E. Pierce, an anthropologist who offers a fascinating insight into the attitudes of middle-easterners. His son-in-law, Richard G. Dudley, sent me this link, and perhaps if he had sent it to George W. Bush instead the world would be a safer place today.
